Akira Kugimachi Dialogue 530×652mm / mineral pigments on paper / 2025
YUKIKOMIZUTANI will participate in Art Fair Tokyo 2025.
At this fair, we will present a new series “Dialogue” by Akira Kugimachi.
“Dialogue” is inspired by the natural phenomenon known as crown shyness, where trees grow while leaving gaps so that their branches do not touch each other. In this new series, the interplay between the accidental patterns created by the wrinkles of washi paper and the depicted trees gives rise to a dynamic spectacle of change without predetermined harmony. Through this, one can glimpse the artist’s unique perspective, cultivated not only through nihonga (Japanese painting) but also through his exploration of diverse media such as video and installation.
We will also present a collaborative work with ceramic artist Hanako Miwa. Both artists draw inspiration from nature in their creative practice, and we invite you to experience their latest works.
