YUKIKOMIZUTANI is pleased to present Seiji Matsumoto Solo Exhibition: EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, on view from Saturday, August 1 to Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Marking Matsumoto’s third solo exhibition at YUKIKOMIZUTANI, the exhibition features a new body of paintings and drawings, alongside a new video work created in collaboration with creators Rich & Miyu. The film interweaves scenes from Matsumoto’s studio with the imaginative world of his artworks, creating a new visual experience where reality and fiction intersect.

EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT

“EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT” expresses the idea that each of us is unique.

Differences in appearance, ways of thinking, and the environments in which we grow up all give rise to both beauty and inner conflict. In an age where social media makes it easy to compare ourselves with others, this exhibition reflects on the importance of turning our attention inward and reconnecting with who we are.

Inspired by emotions and landscapes born from life surrounded by nature, these works invite viewers to embrace their own individuality. Created with a focus on the present moment—without being constrained by the past or anxious about the future—the exhibition reveals a new dimension of Seiji Matsumoto’s artistic vision.

Seiji Matsumoto ‒ Profile

Born in 1986 in Osaka, Japan.
After graduating from Osaka University of Arts, he began his career as a designer.
He later moved to Tokyo to gain experience and eventually relocated to New York to pursue a career as an artist. In 2017, he introduced his character “ANDY the Rat” in his first solo exhibition. Matsumoto has since participated in solo shows and art events in Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, and more. He currently works out of his studio located in the mountainous region of Nagano Prefecture.
