【PRESS RELEASE】

Seiji Matsumoto illustrates many charming characters.
As a creative, his work ranges from advertising, graphic design, and most lately visual arts where he has garnered much attention.
Born 1986, in Osaka, Seiji started as a designer after graduating from Osaka University of Arts. After working in Tokyo and New York, he is now based in Nagano, Japan.
Seiji’s representative works include the ANDY series of mice established during his time in New York and the DOG&DUCK series, which he began painting after settling in Nagano, Japan.
At first glance, they appear to be in stark contrast, the restless mice moving about in the city, and the dogs and ducks leading a pastoral life in the mountains and plains. However, both serries are akin in trying to portray the “happiness in everyday life”.
Throughout the exhibition, ANDY can be seen running around.
Building on his paintings and three-dimensional works, Seiji will be presenting his first ever video work. Together, the entire venue will be transformed into one big installation.
His broad range of expression transcend conventional boundaries between art and illustration, and we are pleased to present an exhibition that includes all kinds of his work. The work shown in the exhibition titled “Fun!” shed light on the fun daily life of animals. We hope to share this fun with everyone at the exhibition.
Seiji’s work may give us a hint to see more happiness in our daily lives.
